Several news outlets, including Raw Story and the AP, report 30 minutes ago that Senator Edward Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor. The tumor was discovered by doctors after Kennedy was tested following his recent seizure.
“Doctors say Sen. Edward Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor; a condition discovered after he had seizure,” according to the AP.
“Doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat say tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe. His treatment will be decided after more tests but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy.”
Kennedy, 76, has been hospitalized in Boston since Saturday, when he was airlifted from Cape Cod after a seizure at his home.
No public statements have been made by the family about the tumor to this point.
His doctors said in a statement released to the AP that he has had no further seizures, and is in good spirits.
