Your Morning Cereal – Woman Gets Back Ring She Lost in a Lake 54 Years Ago

A woman, Jan Zarcharda, who lost her class ring in Lake Michigan in 1954, has it back. The ring was found by a metal-detector hobbyist, Robert Savage, who told the Ludington Daily News that he found the ring about 12 years ago. He did a bit of detective work by looking at the initials and the year on the ring. He found a Ludington High yearbook for 1955 and found that Jan Pedersen was the only person in the class with the right initials.

  1. Warm fuzzies to return something once treasured and lost, forgotten yet longed for. I also recovered a ring, wedding band with initials engraved inside, traced to a teacher, lost on the schoolgrounds 30 years earlier. Warm feelings for sure..

  2. I love seeing these stories. First, because it’s great to see the owners reunited with a keepsake. Secondly, it gives a favorable impression to everyone about the majority of people associated with this hobby.
